The coaches are great, and the teachers care and are involved. The school brings a great atmosphere! There is definitely room for improvement, but overall, a great school to attend.
I was an honors and AP student, so my experience may differentiate to some other students. All the honors and AP classes were challenging, which prepared me for college. My teachers were available to help out with assignments or answer any questions. I created a bond with a couple of them and even talked to them about my social life. I felt safe at the school. When rumors popped up with potential threats, they coordinated with the police. Overall, the school and bathrooms were kept pretty clean. In high school, I played soccer and ran cross country for three years and joined bowling my senior year. I liked all my coaches and had a great experience. I wish the school had set up more opportunities to talk to people in different careers. Also, I felt like other than taking honors and AP classes, I didn't know how to prepare for college. I felt lost during the application and scholarship process. They said they would help lead us through the process, but I felt it was very lackluster.
Over the past three years, I have really enjoyed my time at Bettendorf High School. I have had many oppurtunities to challenge myself academically, most so in this current year where the number of avaiblable dual credit courses significantly increased. The teachers and advisors work hard to prepare you for not only any secondary education following high school, but also the real world after that. Aside from academics, I have had many oppurtunities to get incredibly involved in the school. Bettendorf offers many sports, clubs, and fine art activties to be involved in which all foster their own communities of hard working students and oppurtunities to lead. Overall, I have really enjoyed my experience with Bettendorf High School.
