Bertrand High School Reviews

My experience with Bertrand High School was overall great. It was a small school so I was able to interact individually with my teachers so I could excel academically in the classroom.
Overall we do not have a bad school. There are good relationships between students and staff members, for the most part people get along here. My problem with Bertrand is that there isn't enough attention to our extracurricular activities such as music and drama. There is a bit of favoritism essentially based on who does sports and who does not. With that being said, it's a good school with pretty good people.
Over all the school is good the teachers are understanding and helpful and the community is generally pretty involved. Where I would like to see improvements the most is in the music and art departments. The music and art departments seem to be less important to the school than the sports department. Therefore they tend to receive less funding and support from school administration.
I am a senior at Bertrand High school. We are a very small school with maybe a few more than 100 students. We are also combined with the elementary school. I love my school because we are al very close and are all active in our community. We have great teachers who challenge us and push us to do our very best and try new things. I am applying for this scholarship because I am ranked in the middle of my graduating class of 21. Therefore, it is very hard for me competing to get scholarships.
High school here in a small town can sometimes be very challenging. You are forced to know everyone and socially get along with them. It is sometimes hard to do that , especially when you are around them all of the time. Life in the high school life can be hard but even harder when you live in a small school. With sports being the main focus around town it is hard to be yourself if you do not compete in an athletic event. I wish that being in this small town it was easier to be more yourself and not have to do what everyone else wants you to do
