I love the teachers, they truly have made my experience what it is and I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for them. But with that being said the teachers that were there my freshman there are mainly not here now in my senior year. Teachers don't stay around a long time so it can be really hard to make good relationships with those teachers when they don't stay. I believe that the school has so much potential to be what everybody needs but it really needs help in some areas. As for the students that attend the school we all have had to go through so much such as many deaths, a car driving through the school, a bomb threat, and in my case: a new principal every year I have gone to school there. Because of these instances the student body has come together but we don't stay together and the overall atmosphere I feel like really needs to heal and talk about all that has gone on because without the necessary healing, the more divided everyone turns out to be.

My experience at Berthoud High school was definitely one to remember! I learned so much and have so many great memories because of the teachers and students and just the school in general. Of course almost everyone knows about the many losses Berthoud High has experienced and that is the only reason I rated my experience as 4 stars. The culture of the school is amazing despite how little diversity there is. Everyone is always so kind to each other and there weren’t and aren’t any cliques that isolate people from friend groups. The teachers are amazing and teach so well! They don’t have favorites and are all very passionate about their job. They truly understand that they are preparing us for the next chapter in our lives no matter what we decide to do. I have learned so many great life lessons from attending Berthoud High School and I can only hope that all other high schools are just as great.
Certain teachers only still have their jobs because they are sports coaches. I almost feel guilty for having some classes on my transcript because the teachers barely taught and it was too easy of an A. Music department is completely underfunded and currently only has 1 teacher teaching 6 different classes each day. The Gifted and Talented counselor barely shows up for scheduled meetings and he isn't very helpful when he is there. On a positive note, some teachers are excellent and I do feel safe most of the time. Sadly the amount of bad faculty for such a small school makes it hard to have a balanced education and feel prepared.
