From Berkshire School

Founded in 1907, Berkshire School is a co-ed college preparatory boarding and day school for 400 ninth through twelfth graders and post-graduates, offering a forward-thinking curriculum and state-of-the-art facilities on a 400-acre campus in Sheffield, Massachusetts. Signature programs – such as Advanced Math/Science Research, Advanced Humanities Research, and the Sabin Entrepreneurial Prize – coexist with advanced sections and AP offerings in all disciplines. These programs are designed to expand the minds, provide real-world experiences, and help distinguish our students in an increasingly competitive college process. With a range of artistic and athletic offerings and national recognition for our efforts in sustainability, Berkshire is an extraordinary setting in which students are encouraged to learn in the words of the School motto: Pro Vita Non Pro Schola Discimus, “Learning – not just for school but for life.”

Coming to Berkshire School was one of the best decisions in my life.

Here, I have a tremendous opportunity to grow and try new things. This is in large part because of the supportive and friendly teachers and classmates.

In terms of academics and many activities, there is virtually no ceiling to the heights you can go. There are ridiculous research opportunities in AMSR and AHR, you receive so many resources and support to pursue niche interests , and I have the chance to direct my own show as a junior!
You can do anything if you put in the effort.
Also, the community here is really truly supportive and collaborative. The Asian and Asian American students wrote an open letter to the administration about representation, and within two weeks they got to sit down with the board of trustees. This is just one of the ways students here feel empowered and supported.

Plus we have a breathtaking campus.

I've been really impressed with the balance that Berkshire strikes between academic, artistic and athletic offerings, with a healthy and realistic focus on life lessons and character development in today's changing world. Our students share in real time that they genuinely enjoy their experience and so many of our alums are motivated to come back and give back. I thoroughly enjoy my job!
Berkshire is an amazing place that has truly shaped who I am as a person today. The opportunities here and endless, and every student truly has a voice in this community. All of the faculty members truly care about the success and wellbeing of each student, and all students are very supportive yet eager to succeed. Classes are challenging, but teachers, advisors, and other faculty members truly work with you and care to see you achieve your goals. Berkshire is overall a great community, and coming here is by far the best decision I've ever made!
