Berkmar High School is a very diverse school that consists of mostly ethnic minority students. This school's sports and activities are a very big part of the school, and they provide a way for each student to get more involved in the community. The school spirit, however, often is lacking and could use some work by implementing more activities that could persuade everyone to participate. Another thing that the school could work on is doing a better job in spreading information, whether that be college information, school events, or academic opportunities. The absence of valuable information does show, as some of the students are often misinformed or not informed at all about a certain topic. Nevertheless, the academics at Berkmar is very high and many teachers that work here are really great.
At Berkmar High School, I have had good experiences with my teachers, who always worry about their students, they invest a lot of their free time replying to their questions and preparing them for their tests. I really appreciate my teachers, and believe that they are the best of the best. The students and the school system are not the best, and room for improvement is really needed. There's a high lack of discipline and respect for the school from part of the students, that chaos goes from fights at least once a week, to stealing school property objects, and massive skipping. Unfortunately, the school is deficient when trying to stop that. I also believe that it doesn't encourage students to get more involved with school activities, and I wish they would inform students about scholarship opportunities, their food also sucks and barely varies.
My experience at Berkmar High School was a moment that I will never forget. I use to think that my life in high school would be base on high schools I seen in movies or television shows. However, it's basically not the same. When I came to Berkmar, as a freshman, I didn't know anything. I was shy, lost, and didn't know who to talk to, but when I enter my class, everything open my eyes. I started to understand every subjects and when the time was come to take quizzes and exams, I put a lot of effort to try to get the answers correct, even though I fail. From learning my mistakes, I became better and better in my classes and once I gotten better, the process got me into a better position as a sophomore, then as a junior, and lastly as a senior. Berkmar has taught me everything in order to be ready for college and opportunities as I move forward in my life. What I like to see change is Berkmar have more fun experiences for students, who are interested.
