I built phenomenal connections with my teachers. I'm still in touch with them, and they help me with some of my homework that I'm receiving in college. Mr. Meloche, the principle, is an amazing person. He always took greta care of my siblings and I through thick and thin. Mrs. Weiss is a great counselor who I felt I could tell anything to. She took great care of me even when I was feeling awful. The special-ed teachers are all amazing too. I'm still in tough with them as well. I'd day something which needs a little bit of work would be the consistency of clubs. At the beginning of the school year they were very involved, but as the months went on they fell off.
Being at Berkley High is the best opportunity for me because it has changed my life and helped me grow as a student in many ways. Even though I got bullied a lot while attending the school and have come through so much that I found my people to be around, the best apart about my school is that, everyone is open and accommodating to those around us despite there being the subs and yet they are chill to be around and understand everything. The type of thing that I would love to be changed would be the parking spaces due to the fact that people tend to park anywhere and there is no place for them to park at which I would like to see changed and have spots for the kids who can drive at the high school.
I loved my freshman year at BHS. Overall I enjoyed most of my classes, as I had a lot of options. Advanced Earth and Space in particular was a bright spot. However I didn’t enjoy US history and found myself extremely bored. Extracurriculars were amazing, including marching band, stage crew, and cross country. I feel like I was really able to flourish. The school works to be very accepting, and as a trans student I had an overwhelmingly positive experience. I’m very excited to continue at my school.
