Berkley High School prioritizes it's students' educations. Students at Berkley High are provided with textbooks, tutoring from other students, and extra help from teachers before, after, or during school. It is very clear that the staff truly care about the students. There are various clubs for students to join and students themselves can even start clubs. This high school also has amazing music and arts programs. There are three different orchestras, six band ensembles, four choirs, and several art classes. One thing that I would like to see a change in at Berkley High is to include more diverse material that we are taught in our history classes. We students are taught only a fraction of the history of communities that are not white, cisgender/straight, or Christian. I know that most students would like to see more representation of black, indigenous, LGBTQIA+, Muslim people, and countless other groups of people.

BHS is, in my opinion, one of the best schools in the area. While our school still lacks some ideas of community and respect, we are still very progressive in nature, which provides a bountiful learning environment. This being said, the only change I would wish to see implemented within the schooling system is a school wide diversity education/training, meaning students AND teachers. I expect discriminatory behavior from the students as most of us are still growing up and figuring out who we are, but this should not be acceptable from the teachers. This is why both students and teachers should have a mandatory event where education is provided about diversity in the classroom.
Berkley High School offers a unique high school experience. It provides academic catering to all levels of students, including APs. Concepts are covered in depth, not mere repetition. The teachers were always not only respectful to their students but respectable to their students. It lacks the social conflicts of a stereotypical high school, with bullying and conflict never being an issue. As a result, I always felt very safe. The cliques are replaced in this school with diverse social connections between people of different races, academic standings, and physical abilities. There's a relaxed school culture that is very lenient but still effective, as students at the school are respectful and delinquency is low. The school's strong in science and math, and students are also able to access the Center for Advanced Studies and the Arts to go even further. One potential improvement would be the arts program, which is not well described to the students and the options limited.
