I have two children at Berkeley Carroll; my older child started in kindergarten and my younger child started in pre-k4. They are currently in 4th and 1st grades and they are truly engaged, delighted learners. The family and parent community at Berkeley Carroll is warm and welcoming and what has drawn us to the school from the start. Our children have formed strong friendships and we have formed lasting bonds with families. All of the teachers thus far have provided excellent academic and social-emotional support and really have gotten to know each child as an individual. The entire staff, from teachers to administrators, has been able to address any concerns we've had with care and helpful insight. Both of our kids are happy, thriving and excited about school, which is the best possible feedback we could get!

My son is a happy Middle Schooler at Berkeley Carroll! He transferred in in 5th grade and was immediately welcomed by kids and teachers.

The student atmosphere is inclusive and fun! For example, the basketball team practices 2x a week for 5/6th graders. Everyone who wants to play does!

The teachers are on it! BC teachers are subject experts with a clear plan. In fact, the plan is communicated clearly to parents and students. I know exactly what my son is studying and when.

The teachers also work with each child on individual basis. I have seen in increase in both academic confidence and resilience.
BC is all about promoting critical, ethical and global thinking. Every student is encouraged to find their voice & pursue their interests. Teachers know each student as an individual. The strong academic foundation the school provides is well balanced with athletics and the arts. Students are especially good writers and public speakers (public speaking is part of each division's curriculum and their speech & debate teams win regional & national awards). They learn that they have a personal responsibility for helping to shape our world which requires developing empathy by connecting what they're learning in the classroom to real world issues and considering/valuing diverse viewpoints and backgrounds. The Upper School has added many more advanced courses (especially in science, engineering, tech/computers) over the past few years. Most graduates (86% in 2017) are accepted to highly selective colleges and more than 100 colleges visit their campus each year.
