I am currently a parent with kids in the Benton School District. There is a good amount of bullying that happens, without consequences. Even with being brought up to the school, just seems to get swept under the rug. There is a lot of cliques in the school. There is smaller classes, so the teacher/student ratio is pretty good. I do like that as the kids can get the 1 on 1 attention that may be needed. Often in the sports, it is based off of seniority and favoritism. Not off of talent. And those who are not as strong as the starters, or regular players are pushed aside and don't get the same attention to further improve their skills. Educational wise, they do go an extra mile in ensuring kids or teens are thriving and learning. The music program lacks, possibly cause we tend to get a new music teacher each year.
Small school with a lot of heart. A lot of school support from locals. Parents and teachers coordinate in order to get things done.
I moved to Benton from a large school in Iowa when I was in the sixth grade, and the change was rather abrupt. I am still not used to the small community at this school, and honestly I am not a huge fan. I will admit that I feel very safe in this school; nothing terrible happens in Benton. But there are not very many opportunities available and I feel the classes and teachers don't prepare students for oncoming years of school in college.
