Benson was an excellent fit for me! It allows students with an individualistic personality to explore a myriad of careers and majors, an opportunity not offered at mainstream high schools. The teaching staff is one of a kind, you would be hard pressed to find a more invested and caring staff anywhere else in PPS. It was a difficult choice for me to go to a school other than my neighborhood school, but in hindsight it was the best choice I could have made.

Overall, Benson Polytechnic is an average public high school. There is often talk about how excellent it is from older generations but during my four years, I became increasingly disappointed in the lack of care for the student body coming from the administration. During my senior year, there were multiple garbage fires in a specific bathroom. Instead of responding to these fires with the police like they should have, the administration decided to lock all of the the bathrooms in the school except for one for the rest of the year. This not only goes against PPS policy, but it's just not the correct response, there shouldn't be collective punishment. So, in summary, Benson is an alright school with a terrible administrative staff.
Great nursing program, it opens many doors to students that are interested in the health field by allowing them to have internships in different health facilities. Benson has a great girls basketball program. It’s a close community of people that support each other. I’m glad I had my high school experience there!
