As a black student at Bennington High School, my experience here has been horrible. With a low diversity rate due to the high-class neighborhoods in the school, the school is heavily white in population. I'm not saying that a majority white school is a bad thing, but the actions that were taken by some of the students. I have been called numerous racial slurs by students, had a teacher repeatly use the n-word in "To Kill a Mockingbird" despite the amount of times I told her it made me uncomfortable, and many racist jokes and mircoagressions made towards me. Whenever reported to administrators, they often brush off the complaints and move on with their day. These experiences have scarred me and my perception of this school district.
On the other hand, the academics and extracurriculars are good at Bennintgon. They often push students to take harder courses and try their best to prepare us for college. They also make sure that each club and activity had the needed resources to operate

I have greatly enjoyed my time at Bennington for several reasons. The quality of education and teaching staff, the cleanliness and maintenance of the buildings and campus, the diversity of extracurricular activities and sports, and the community and vibe of the school are all factors of why I am proud to call myself a Bennington Badger. Bennington Secondary School is very nice with additions being created all the time to keep the school updated. The campus and landscaping are nice, and the students overall are proud of their school and keep classrooms clean.
I recently moved to Bennington unexpectedly for my senior year, Bennington has been very welcoming and has challenged my in many more ways than I have been before academically. I would definitely encourage people in this area to attend Bennington if they had the option because I feel as if their education and programs offered as extra-curricular activities are outstanding. Getting an education at Bennington is something people should prize and be proud of. The staff has been very supportive and helpful throughout my transition as well.
