I am an alum and a parent of a current student. Franklin has always had a stellar reputation, but the school has changed a lot since I was a student - for the better! There is so much more support for incoming Freshmen: A mandatory study skills class, teacher office hours, peer tutoring, and a great staff of counselors. It's a much kinder, gentler school without having sacrificed quality. Teachers are inspired, students are ambitious and hardworking. It's a great environment in which to be a high achiever. Everyone is in the same boat, so there are no social outcasts who are labeled as "nerds." It also has a very active club network, which is a great way for new students to connect. I also highly recommend "Franklin Prep" for incoming Freshmen. It's a 2-week summer program that takes place the summer before school begins. It exposes students to a little taste of the academic picture while allowing them to learn their way around the school and meet some of their new classmates.

Ben Franklin was tough but without a doubt prepared me for college. It gives you the study skills and time management required to get through college, which are skills that I utilize every day. I am grateful for the work I did at Ben Franklin because I ended up coming in to college with over a semester worth of credits, which means I will be able to graduate early!
Ben Franklin has a rigorous curriculum with science classes that constantly challenged my mind and my GPA. A support system like Franklin’s was not something you’d find in any place. In a city with so much flavor and timelessness that the people can’t help but be the richest souls you could ever meet, I was told to reach deep into the stars and not be afraid of what I might discover. I took those chances to end up in my Senior year at a University that does not care if I graduate on time or any time soon for that matter.

I will forever love Benjamin Franklin High School for being the few remaining moments in my life where I wasn’t always frustrating and fatigued. I felt like school sucked, but my education and livelihood weren’t being tampered with. I exactly how the world should want you to feel about life. I was attentive, high spirited and eager to take flight. I felt like the possibilities were endless and the world wasn’t all so bad.
