I like that Benjamin Banneker Academic high school is a rigorous high school that is college preparatory, giving us students a preview of what college life will consist of. We also have a great tutoring program that helps us with all the challenging homework and projects we get daily. But with the school offers, Banneker still has its flaws, I would like to see the school add more electives to its program because I have a lot of fellow peers who are talented and wants more experience in certain subjects, I would also like to see the school get more resources like computers, more space, materials to do certain projects, and most importantly more lab space for our science department. Banneker is a great school and I highly recommend this school for any student trying to find a good high school to attend.

My time at Benjamin Banneker Academic High School has definitely prepared me for the rigors of college. The academics are taken very seriously, the students are pushed to do better, and it has excellent outside connections and resources. However, the school can be very bland and fails to reward its students that work so hard for them. Our school activities and clubs are very scarce and do not offer many openings to creativity. Also, our building and facilities are very old and outdated, making it difficult to gain the benefits that updated materials give. Despite this, Banneker is a close-knit-community high school with a curriculum that prides on preparing you for higher education.
Banneker is the number one high school in the nation's capital. However, being here since freshman year I can say that I never really had a high school experience. Banneker does not have a football team and overall we are not known for sports. Being the number one high school is mainly based upon the academic rigor. This is why going to a division I school is so important to me because I can make up for the sports experience that I never had. Overall, Banneker has been a roller coaster ride like any other high school. But, Banneker has taught me a lot about time management and its importance which is an important skill to have learned when moving on to college.
