My four years at Benicia High School have been great! Being a part of leadership I feel like we've done our best to create a good school culture. Academics as well as college readiness are pretty good. However, I feel the college prep was crammed into senior year and should've started when we were freshman so we could have been thinking about certain things over the entire span of high school. I also feel that athletics at Benicia could be improved and equally funded.

My whole family has lived in Benicia for about 80% of all of our lives. My grandparents live here, both of my parents and all my aunts and uncles went to BHS in the 80's, and currently my sister attends BHS also. I also attended, graduating in 2017. With the community of everybody knowing everybody, it was really nice to be able to grow with everyone as I went to middle and high school in Benicia. Some teachers of course were lacking, but don't all high schools have that? I blame it on Common Core classes though, those suck, especially now that I am succeeding more in those Common Core subjects while in college. As much as me and all my alumni friends like to make fun of BHS, this school was honestly such a integral part of our lives that I am always going to have fond memories of it--even when we make fun of it.
It is a small town with only two high schools and everyone knows everyone. The high school itself is good. A few sports teams, along with theater and band. It is a tight knit community and people either never leave, or leave and never come back!
