Overall, my experience has been amazing! The culture is outstanding and very homey, they welcome any and everyone. I consider many of my teacher sto be somewhat of my school parents, and school family. Something that I think could be better, is the diversity. It’s a very Caucasian school but that’s because I live in a very Caucasian environment and community. I’ve considered moving schools, but no other school will have the same culture.

I attended Bend senior highschool throughout my whole highschool career. The school has a club called Link Crew. The students who participate in link crew are the kids that make sure the incoming freshman feel welcomed on the first day of school. During my 4 years, I participated in volleyball, link crew, and CTE programs (culinary arts). The staff are welcoming and they take the time to help students, no matter what. During my junior year I participated in management team (culinary)with 3 other students. We won state and made it to nationals! My culinary teacher helped us win state by practicing with us constantly, and always making time to prepare us. My culinary teacher has also taught me many things, she gave me the basic skills/ training to cook in the real world. In her classroom I discovered my passion for culinary arts. There are multiple clubs at Bend highschool that provide students with multiple opportunities for extra help.
Bend High is a unique place. As the oldest high school in Bend, Oregon, it has the most developed school culture of any Central Oregon school. It's quirks, both physical and personality-wise, make it a place that allows people to pursue things they are passionate about and be who they want to be. With the right support from teachers, administrators, and community members, students can do incredible things. I was given so many opportunities at Bend High, including the opportunity to pursue a full International Baccalaureate Diploma, run a school club, play sports, and more. There are things to be improved, especially in terms of access to counseling and structural changes to the building. Despite these areas for improvement, students can tell how much their teachers and faculty members care about their education and livelihood.
