Smith High School provides so much for their students. As an IB student I have been given so many opportunities to grow as a student. They push us to success, which is why I’m applying for this scholarship right now. They make sure we keep our grades up, keep school spirit and build amazing bonds. I wouldn’t recommend any other school in guilford county. It has very diverse classroom settings that differ from any other school. Smith really makes you feel included.

Ben L Smith high school is a diverse school with unique people that anyone would find. My experience with this high school has been life changing . I have learned numerous amount of things and most importantly life lessons. I have learned all of this things from great teachers and peers. From the start of freshman year I did not think smith was the right place for me because I always felt isolated. I felt isolated because of my skin color. Moreover, I felt better because teachers were always around to ask how everyone's day has been going. Simply asking how someone is doing can turn a frown upside down. In conclusion, I rate my overall experience with Ben L Smith great!
This school is far from perfect, but it’s getting there. In the beginning of my freshman year, I definitely did not want to attend this school based off the rumors and everything that my siblings have told me. During my 4 years of attendance I have learned that this school definitely has its ups and downs. Administration tries to make students feel included and cared about, but many students don’t want to put in the effort to succeed. I have made a number of friends who have the mentality of succeeding, so finding these people are not rare. This school is not terrible and riddled with gang members and violence. It is making outstanding strides towards excellence, to which I commend.
