I'm reluctant to send my soon to Ben sixth grader to this school. Neighboring kids have nothing good to say the last two years. They have told me to anticipate my child iether going unnoticed or being bullied. They have told me nearly daily about fights at the school. It begs the question in Fargo public schools..."why aren't parents being informed of their children's behavior both good or bad?" Numerous times I've helped other friends file complaints and even remove their student from schools that aren't proactive. I'm to the point where the combination of poor reading and math scores and the fighting in school has led me on a mission to find a different educational facility for our child.
I rated Ben Franklin Middle School as above average, because it is. The teachers there cared not only about the education of their students, but their home lives. I was able to form bonds with teachers, that I had never before. I truly felt like I mattered. We also were taught to be a good person while we were at Ben. We did activities as a school where we would focus on standing up for others who can't and had lectures against destructive decisions.
The only thing that I would change about Ben Franklin, is the lack of leadership opportunities for students. While I was a student there, we had a club called Student Leaders, where we were able to organize events and volunteer, but I believe that there should have been more opportunities for students to get involved. If they were able to have more clubs and activities for their students, they would be able to learn responsibility and form connections early on.

I guess school is okay, the teachers are jerks though and the hotdogs are like rubber along with the hamburgers. The art program is amazing but the college readiness is not good at all.
