Overall it's a good school. I've had many great teachers who are passionate about what they do and connect with students in a way that makes an impact. I've always felt very safe at school, and there is very little student conflict. The Proficiency Based Grading system that has been implemented, though, is problematic and ineffective; however, the students and teachers are doing what they can to function within it as best as they can.
It is an overall pretty positive environment, while the physical building could use some updates, such as an air conditioning system for the gym, it has been an interesting and genuine place to grow into myself. The teachers for the most part truly care about what they do and would drop anything to help out students in need. They push online learning pretty heavily which is a blessing and a curse because it allows us to become more tech savvy in a world blooming in new technological advances, but it also takes away from learning physical aspects to school and sometimes becomes repetitive. It is run by administrators who look out for the good of the school and is overall a good place to get an education.
I loved my time at Belvidere High School. From the time I walked in as a tiny freshman to the day I walked the stage everyone was so kind. The administration team was always so good to the students and some of the teachers I had in my time there were the best ever! Many of my teachers made it so much easier waking up early in the morning for school because I knew I’d have a great day aslong as my favorite teachers were there.
