Overall, Bellevue West High School is an excellent school, espcially in academics. Academically, there are numerous AP classes availiable for students to take, which helps them prepare for college, as well as a grant from the National Math and Science Intiative that supports these programs. Futhermore, the school has excellent teachers and administrators. By providing numerous clbs and other extracurriculars such as band, choir and AFJROTC, Bellevue West prodives its students with many opportunities to suceed. The school is also relatively diverse and safe and it has adequate facilities. On the contrary, Bellevue West can improve the college readiness of its stedents. Therefore, Bellevue West is an excellent school due to is academics and extracurriculars.

When I first moved to Nebraska in the year of 2018, I saw Bellevue West as one of the top schools to go to. Since I was a Junior I thought this school would help me get ready for the struggle of Senior year and provide ample amounts of guidance to reach college. I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with the commitment this school brings to not just the students but the community by making young peers become young adults. With the countless programs and sports activities to choose from, it allows everyone to pick their passion and pursue it all the way through their high school years. With options like band, marching band, choir, basketball, volleyball, softball/baseball, NJHS, and my personal favorite AF-JROTC program.
I think Bellevue West really shaped me into who I am today. I think Bellevue West lacks school spirit and it's sad. We have such talented athletic teams. Not just sports but our drama, band, and choir departments are exceptional. I want to see students get more involved with spirit week and showing up to sporting events or going to watch plays. That is one thing that I would definitely change about Bellevue West, but thats up to the students, teachers and administrators can only do so much. During this pandemic I have really realized how much some of my teacher care about me. They reached out and made sure the Seniors were doing okay and wanted to know if we need anything we can always contact them. Its nice to know some teachers care about you beyond the learning and I think a lot of teachers at Bellevue West show that.
