Bellevue Big Picture school is an interesting case (positively interesting though)! Know that it's pretty small, especially the high-school. The teachers are very engaged and interested in the subjects they are teaching, and (most) of the students are looking to gain a learning experience that not only suits them and their study methods, but that leans them towards career paths and their personal interests etc. Another aspect of Big Picture is the internships, this is a core part of the school structure-- an excellent addition for college and career readiness. Students are made to go out and find and internship that suits their career interests. This is meant for them to gain experience in the field and explore if it is truly something they are interested in. From my personal experience, this was super helpful. The internships were one of my favorite aspects of Big Picture.Overall though, Big Picture is a phenomenal school with a useful structure and cool ideas!

Big picture is a school that focuses on students gaining real-life experiences through holding internships. Students are required to search and maintain an internship throughout the year and initiate a project that benefits that organization and present the progress at the end of every quarter. This school is extremely small, my graduating class was less than 20 students. But that means more support can be provided to each student, which is one of the special things that you won't be able to find at any public school. The downside of a small school is that there were no sports, no clubs, limited electives to choose from (only Spanish), and students weren't able to participate in things like DECA, or Key club like all other schools.
This is now my 7th year at BP. While it’s got its problems, especially with retaining girls of colour, this school has shaped me into the person I am today. And while any ol’ school could’ve done that, I believe I really wouldn’t have become as confident, organised, or prepared for college if I went to another school. The internship program is great but not the reason to come to this school. The small class size and dedicated teaching staff make all the difference. College preparedness is key starting in 6th grade. The administration is one of the most willing to take criticism that I’ve ever encountered. You’ll find your place here.
