As I senior at BHS, I can honestly say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at this school. While the facilities may not be the most glamorous, I think that the people make Bellaire what it is. The administration genuinely cares about the success and happiness of the student body, and Mr. McDonough is an outstanding principal. However, I think that the schools college resources and counselors are definitely lacking was the pure mass of students. Our few counselors and 2 college advisors are way overloaded!

Graduating with 15 AP classes, I feel better prepared for colleges, and I know that my teachers played a huge role in this. The majority of my teachers worked day-in and day-out to make sure that my learning was engaging, that I grasped what was being taught, and that I was challenged to think analytically and critically.

The IB program at Bellaire is terrific- great guidance and learning opportunities! The AP program is also top-notch. Both had great teachers. The physics and chemistry departments are lacking except for the Physics C course! The advanced classes all had incredible teachers, especially math and biology. The school environment was great and the administrators were fair and quite diverse, just as the student body. The principle is wonderful and kind with great pride for his students and their achievements. He knows a vast majority of them by name and also things they have accomplished.
I attended Bellaire High School all four years and in retrospect would not have chosen a different school. There is a very profound culture of intellectualism among AP students, often leading to a high need to out-compete each other by getting better grades, yet peers are just about always ready to give a helping hand. Most of the AP courses offered here are very successful courses because more often than not most of the students within a class get 3 or above. The academics here really prepare a student to go to a university. The only downfall is that the school is overcrowded and parking absolutely sucks. But last thing I heard was that the school has a 5-year remodeling plan, so I'm looking forward to that! The school has unbelieveable amount of diversity! Probably one of the most diverse high-schools in the nation, so it's no wonder we offer roughly 13 languages here. Bellaire offers more than 100 clubs so there's no excuse to not get involved.
