At Bellaire High School, you have the resources and support to learn about a multitude of things. If you aren't certain about what you want to do with your life, then Bellaire has the classes and clubs where you can find out what you like or don't like. You can really immerse yourself into any subject - chemistry maybe being the exception.
The staff in Pre-AP and AP classes are very supportive of their students and love what they teach. In the regular and college-prep classes, you don't find such passion, but most are available to all students.
Yes, the current school building is dusty and dirty, but at least you have the option to buy fast-food choices and tapioca at lunch. It can be hard to really take off in your clubs because you don't have a lot of funding, especially in the fine arts - go the Mighty Cardinal Band! -, but at least the school has not gotten rid of them.
Overall, Bellaire is a good quality school with spirit and possibility. Good school for HISD.

As I senior at BHS, I can honestly say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at this school. While the facilities may not be the most glamorous, I think that the people make Bellaire what it is. The administration genuinely cares about the success and happiness of the student body, and Mr. McDonough is an outstanding principal. However, I think that the schools college resources and counselors are definitely lacking was the pure mass of students. Our few counselors and 2 college advisors are way overloaded!

Graduating with 15 AP classes, I feel better prepared for colleges, and I know that my teachers played a huge role in this. The majority of my teachers worked day-in and day-out to make sure that my learning was engaging, that I grasped what was being taught, and that I was challenged to think analytically and critically.
The IB program at Bellaire is terrific- great guidance and learning opportunities! The AP program is also top-notch. Both had great teachers. The physics and chemistry departments are lacking except for the Physics C course! The advanced classes all had incredible teachers, especially math and biology. The school environment was great and the administrators were fair and quite diverse, just as the student body. The principle is wonderful and kind with great pride for his students and their achievements. He knows a vast majority of them by name and also things they have accomplished.
