My time in Bell Creek Academy High School was a very positive experience, whereas I got to experience a great highschool life with wonderful teachers who are dedicated to the learning and growth of their students. In my time at BCA High School, I dedicated it to the pursuit of classes, extracurriculars, clubs, sports, etc. It was a very positive learning period of my life, many of the students enrolled are very dedicated to their learning, whereas many are very passionate for certain subjects, such as math, or history. Others pursuit other goals such as the caretaking of the environment through environmental club, or question their place in the universe through philosophy club, and others pursuit competitive extracurriculars such as sports or debate. I was fortunate enough to have a splendid time with many members of the faculty and staff. The teachers are very dedicated, and the student body was very kind, it was a great school experience and I encourage others to seek out theirs!
Bell Creek Academy has a fantastic academic program that stimulates high-level analysis and critical thinking. There are collegiate preparatory services and additional resources available to students and teachers as well. The athletic and artistic departments at Bell Creek are slightly lacking, but this can somewhat be expected given that it is a charter school with a relatively small student body. As far as changes go, I would recommend that Bell Creek be more transparent with the details of its various academic programs. For example, the AICE program at the school provides students with an academic track that can earn students college credit and a full Florida Bright Futures scholarship if the requirements of the program are met. However, there were several details of the program that were not initially presented to incoming high school freshmen, which made it more challenging once in the program itself.
Overall my time at Bell Creek Academy was productive. As long as I took classes that challenged me, I felt as if I was spending my time correctly at this school. Although, I will say some classes lost the productivity factor. Certain teachers did the bare minimum when it came to teaching and giving assignments. For academics, I think a student’s experience all comes down to which classes they choose and how hard they wish to push themselves. You will only flourish if you know which teachers to avoid and which classes to pick. When it comes to things like clubs, I think Bell Creek did a great job in that department. There are many opportunities to get hours for volunteering and to give back to the community. With things like NHS, NEHS, NSHS, Key Club, etc, there are plenty of groups to join.
