Beechwood is a great school that has a tightly knitted community. The small community strives to compete globally by expanding the outreach of knowledge. With a class of roughly 100 students, classmates know each other and look out for one another. The ability to communicate among the grade allows the students to gain social skills, advocating for themselves. Teachers strive to have a growth mindset and encourage students to do the same; therefore, the teachers, faculty, and staff are quite approachable.
Over the past 13 years attending Beechwood, I have had an excellent overall experience. I love Beechwood because it is small, so teachers form great relationships with every student, and administration truly cares about the students. Beechwood is, academically, one of the top schools in Kentucky, so there are many very smart students that I use as a source of motivation to do well in school. I am a part of the Superintendent Advisory Council at Beechwood, and we get to meet with our Superintendent every month to discuss changes that should be made to our school: this is one of my favorite parts about our school. Students get a say in what we want, and administration always listens. One thing I would change about my school is that students get more disciplined. I think that kids who come out of Beechwood are academically ready for college, but they are not always ready to be independent and to not be told what to do all of the time, constantly reminded when to turn in assignments, etc.
Beechwood is one of the best schools in Kentucky and the greater Cincinnati area, education wise. The band and arts programs are renowned on the state and national levels, and the football team has won state two years in a row. Overall an excellent experience.
