The school is VERY small so it is often difficult to have privacy. Everyone knows everything about everyone which is sometimes nice as it feels like one big community, but its more often than not just annoying. There is a TON of diversity at Beachwood too which I really like. It gives me a chance to learn about and embrace all different cultures. The only hugely negative thing about Beachwood is its massive lack of school spirit. Literally no one cares about any sports except for men's football and basketball and even then a select type of "popular kids" attends games. No one cares about any other sports or student council, and only speak up about issues when they directly affect them. There are lots of cliques at Beachwood too. Generally, most do a decent job of being friends with multiple groups, but a lot of people are very closed off and hostile which is a little intimidating at first.
It is very good academic-wise. All the students are well-driven with their studies and all excel in all aspects. They offer a decent amount of sports and clubs as well to the students so that we are exposed to a diversity of extracurriculars. We are offered with many opportunities here and the staff only want the best for us. I just wish they would help prepare us, Juniors, better for the college process. Including applications, essays, and scholarships like this one.
Beachwood has a variety of classes to offer - both regular, Honors and AP. We have a phenomenal EXCEL/TECC program so there are options for everyone to find their niche. We have tons of clubs and extracurricular activities that matches just about anyone's interests from sports to plays to robotics to cultural clubs - you name it. We have small classes so you have lots of one-on-one with your teachers and the school and teachers make themselves available for anyone to come in and talk if they need extra help. You couldn't ask for a better school system and people.
