Bay Port High School offers an immense amount of opportunity's through a wide range of curriculums, clubs, resources, athletics, and even a $2.8 million dollar weight room! Bay Port provides endless resources so students can achieve any dream they envision. Because of Bay Ports strong financial backing, BP has maintained a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. I say with full confidence that BP teachers are making strong positive impacts that students will remember for a lifetime.
However, as someone who transferred schools freshman year I observed that Bay Port severely lacks culture and diversity, as most students come from white backrounds. Because most BP students come from middle to upper class families we are given opportunities that students from neighboring communities are not. This is very problematic as resources are not being evenly provided to our brothers and sisters who rightfully deserve the same quality of education and environment we receive.

I’ve attended three different high schools, and Bay Port High School is superior to the rest. The student involvement, passionate faculty, and wonderful experiences are second to none. Students are kind and welcoming, and far from typical high school cliques. Every teacher I have had the honor of learning under has been passionate about their subject, compassionate and understanding to adjust to unique situations, willing to help with whatever a student or fellow staff member needs, and fiercely supportive of their students. The school offers plenty of support for students and faculty, including Sources of Strength and other mental health resources. The school also offers many AP, IB, Advanced, and unique classes to expand student interests and learning. Activities and student involvement runs rampant, and almost all students are involved in some sort of group, sport, or activity. Bay Port High School offers a plethora of opportunities, and I am proud to be a Bay Port Pirate!
Bay Port High School teachers are second to none. Some teachers at other schools you hear that they are there to just collect a paycheck. Not at Bay Port High School! Not only are the teachers there for the classroom learning, but they want each and every student to personally succeed. There are many times throughout my 4 years at Bay Port High School, that I have learned on my teachers for personal assistance. Weather it was just to listen or asking for advice, they were there. I struggle with mental health issues, and have for over 6 years, and some days just seem unbearable. I have been taught that those hard days are just lol life skill learning opportunities in my life. I need to re-center my objective and goals, and push through these time for success. I love my teachers and mentors for these wonderful learning lessons. I feel these skills will help me succeed in anything I wish to accomplish in my oife.
