I truly enjoyed the many opportunities at Baton Rouge High and the many friends that I made. I enjoyed not having to wear a uniform and being able to see other kids fully express themselves by their outfits. I also enjoyed the many teachers who had amazing teaching styles and were very interactive. While attending Baton Rouge High, I learned how to study and manage my time to make good grades. More importantly, I learned how to balance my social and academic lives. Baton Rouge High could definitely change their work load, dress code, and poor staff. Many students are found extremely stressed and struggling with lack of sleep just to keep up with heavy work loads and high expectations. Some students are going to school with only 3-4 hours of sleep and expected to still perform excellence. Baton Rouge High lacks in the category of paying more attention to the needs of their students.

Baton Rouge Magnet High definitely prepared me for college. It is a hard school but that's because they're preparing students for the workload you'll receive in college. However, one of the things that isn't allowing me to give the school five stars is the traditional "high school experience" that you won't get with football games or homecoming or senior pranks. The school is diverse within its cultures with a variety of cultural clubs and even an international cultural show. Baton Rouge High will give you a memorial experience, with the friends you'll find within the crowd that consists of about 1,500 students. Baton Rouge High gave me experiences I won't ever forget.
Baton Rouge High is a wonderful school. It’s definitely stressful, and there’s a heavy workload, hence the four star rating, but the teachers are unparalleled. There is not one teacher I had this past year who I thought did not care about my education or me as a person. My AP Human Geography teacher was fantastic, as well. She thoroughly prepared myself and my classmates for the AP exam, and when we had to readjust due to COVID-19, she continued to post lessons online and support us over the internet. My English teacher taught us an entire novel, Lord of the Flies, over the internet, too. She was there for us and scheduled calls once a week so that we could continue our education and interact with peers despite the circumstances. Even though we weren’t in the classroom, I feel I learned just as well. If there are high school teachers who are anywhere near as dedicated and understanding in East Baton Rouge, I have not met them.
