Basis looks good on paper. For most kids, it's NOT the right option. The focus is grades. Testing is a sham-if score is below a certain test grade (70%), students take test home to correct it to a passing grade. They give random "extra credit" to bump the quarter final grade up to an A or B.
Starting in 1st grade, homework takes up ALL weekday family time and into the weekend. The lack of emotional awareness between faculty & students is awful.
Basis has few teachers who actually care about the kids & connect. So many examples of terrible student/faculty interactions. Teachers swear & throw erasers at 2nd graders, others mark correct math problems incorrect if they aren't written on the answer line. Many teachers tend to suppress kids rather than encourage them.
Low student:teacher ratio looks good on paper- however, the 2nd teacher is rarely in the room.
Basis suppresses the majority of the kids and pushes them into a depression and anxiety filled life early on.
