Basis Mesa has taught me many things over the past 8 Years. The workload helped me develop tenacity and diligence. I absolutely love the teachers and atmosphere. They never fail to make sure that the students excel at their crafts. From hosting student hours to checking up on the students, the teachers are incredible to work with. Many of my friends I have grown along side with have impeccable characteristics and are very compassionate of others. The facilities at Basis can definitely use some work. I'm pretty sure its because the other Basis Schools are prioritized over our smaller school. I hope that are able to earn more money to aid in providing more extracurriculars. I would like a more diverse curriculum. It would be lovely if the art department had more funding because we have many talented students that love art, theatre, and music. The opportunities that Basis provides are out-matched and I am glad I went to this school.
I love the challenging academics and the close knit community between teachers and students. There are only 36 seniors in my graduating class and I have talked to all of them 20+ times. The teachers are experts in their fields. Most are very personable and are always open to an after class chat. The teachers and administration knows about the activities going on in the students’ life. With such strong academics, sports aren’t at the forefront of student life. With that being said, the sports are still competitive (tennis, volleyball, basketball, cross country, track, etc). Many of the students get involved in the sports teams which allows for lots of school spirit. Students can also play many sports in a year (fall, winter, spring). The school is in Eastmark so it is surrounded by the neighborhood kids where many go to BASIS
To improve - the communication between administration and students. Parents are sent the updates yet students aren’t. Also the computers need updating.

Basis Mesa is a small charter school that is heavily college-focused. As a result of this, there is a really close-knit community and small amounts of typical high school drama. Because of this, I am grateful, but it also makes me feel as though I missed out on having a normal teenage experience due to the irregularity of my school. Although I usually never had anything to complain about in regards to the teachers and staff, my school has a lot of teacher turnover, which leads me to believe that there are issues with the school environment. Also, some staff members and teachers have been heavily complained about but they still remain employed at the school, making it seem as though the students' feelings are not taken into consideration. Despite taking many AP tests throughout the years, I am overall pleased with my experience at Basis Mesa because it has shaped me into the person I am today and has equipped me with helpful life and academic skills.
