The BASIS curriculum is highly regarded for good reason. BASIS schools top these rankings for good reason. BASIS prepares students efficiently, extensively, and effectively. The graduates it produces could rival those from any top ranked school anywhere in this country. The data supports that. But, more importantly, the people that belong to this community will have the greatest impact on a student that could be hoped for. The students and teachers aren’t just a well oiled academic machine. Their brilliance and insight will always surprise anyone that is lucky enough to know them intimately. The administration is flawed, and that produces challenges. However, if you truly want a place where your student will reach their full potential this is it. They will receive an education that is stimulating and generates well rounded and perceptive individuals that are ready and determined to succeed.

BASIS Mesa was a trip of a lifetime. And as all great lifetimes, there were some parts that were absolutely miserable. The experience and culture at BASIS knits together a tight community of peers, confident in each other. I enjoyed the way BASIS encouraged intellectual growth with rigorous classes. However, what was a major downside was that BASIS was very strict with core curriculum, not very open, and not a huge variety of selections. Organization such as administration and faculty could have been worked on tremendously.
Most of the teachers are very nice and friendly. They are willing to help you. Classes are highly AP-focused for high school, starting from freshman year. However, the school is smaller than other BASIS schools, and it has many grades. So the corridor is always crowded. Adjusting schedule is not easy since there isn't a lot of classes. Physical education also needs to be improved although it was the BASIS curriculum to be blamed. There are super smart students in my grade. The school also does not require a certificate for teachers who teach the foreign language, which I think is inappropriate. The club atmosphere is not very strong. The most important disadvantage would be that there are no clinics. If you are sick, you have to call your parents to go home. Overall, it was okay. Its academic is really strong after all.
