BASIS Chandler is a school for a very specific type of student: a hard-working, ambitious, intrinsically motivated, and very academically focused person. There are very few resources dedicated to the art departments or sports teams, but the academics are amazing. The curriculum is very fast-paced and advanced, and students take a lot of AP and honors courses. STEM classes take priority over all others so students will take many more of those. The majority of the teachers are highly educated and well qualified. The administration is not very supportive of many students and is not extremely well-liked by the student body.

I knew going into BASIS that it was mainly a STEM school. BASIS has decent resources for kids who want to go into STEM. The main areas where I think there could be improvement is in their "Outreach" programs. BASIS Chandler, in particular, does not have a guidance counselor. This has caused much consternation, especially since the student body is so competitive there are high rates of depression. If a student is struggling emotionally, there are almost no resources for that student to use. Where in a typical high school there might be a peer support program, guidance counselor, or support groups for a student to join, there isn't at BASIS Chandler.
I am currently a sophomore that goes to Basis Chandler. Like I say to people around me, my school is like my second family. I have great friends who constantly help and support me. And I have a good relationship between my teachers. Of course I do have problems with my school. Basis has a great reputation for students excelling in education compared to any other schools, however the students see it as a big competition between themselves and other students in the same school. But students overcome this later on the years and focus on their future. Overall I am proud that I go to Basis Chandler, and I know that I have a bright future ahead of me
