BASIS Chandler is a school for a very specific type of student: a hard-working, ambitious, intrinsically motivated, and very academically focused person. There are very few resources dedicated to the art departments or sports teams, but the academics are amazing. The curriculum is very fast-paced and advanced, and students take a lot of AP and honors courses. STEM classes take priority over all others so students will take many more of those. The majority of the teachers are highly educated and well qualified. The administration is not very supportive of many students and is not extremely well-liked by the student body.

The level of education at this school is beyond the expectations of any regular Arizona charter high school. For example, in grades 9-12, I've taken an average of 3 AP classes and exams per year, although this is only a minimum value. Additionally, by the 12th grade, at a minimum, a prospective graduate would have at least taken AP Calculus AB.

However, teacher turnover is high, administration tends to hold grudges, and teachers are sometimes in conflict with the administration.
Rampant cheating, until very recently administration was god awful and treated both teachers and students awfully, no school spirit, pools of urine in the bathroom, the ceiling leaks, there is no sense of school spirit, clubs require fees which are promptly pocketed by BASISed,students are snobbish, and they are obviously gaming US News ranking system.
