As long as you're in the Pre-AP program, Barton is great. There are some really great teachers in Pre-AP Math, Science, and English. Most of the problems in the regular classes are not the teachers' fault. They're dealing with kids who don't care, kids who will soon be the 4th or 5th generation on welfare, kids who will soon be in prison. It all goes back to parents. The kids whose parents value education excel.

Barton Junior High has the bases covered for the "diversity" in extracurricular- a marching and performance band, sports, and arts. However, Barton doesn't give each equal attention or opportunity to grow. Where the sports will be guarded to be prepared and improve, the arts and music programs must fend for themselves and with the later being relatively new in comparison to sports...it is extremely difficult for these programs to prosper.
Barton, as a whole, suffers from dissociative personality disorder. At the social level, their is a lack of connection amongst the student body and staff to each other and hardly any effort to fix it. It's disheartening to see when the school is filled with various people of different ethnic and geographic backgrounds who could create student involvement and acceptance.
