Looking back, my experience at BHS was average. There were some teachers who did care about their students but for the majority, many could care less.. Especially the administration. I can't remember a time when the administration did something right to benefit the students and the school. The food there was terrible compared to other schools. More money went into their football program than any other sports and other programs, yet the football team never won a single game or championship while I attended. This school definitely needs a major change in the administration, food options, and their athletic/extracurricular programs.
My experience at Bartlesville High School was overall a good experience. Obviously the COVID-19 has effected how the last few months will play out, but even through digital learning I've still been able to connect with friends and teachers, which is really nice. I really loved my teachers. They were all very encouraging and supportive. Some things I would like to see change is order. Many times events were very chaotic, such as pep rallies or the individual grade meetings. Also I think how the school addresses situations could be improved. There was a time when there was a possible intruder in the school. When an administrator came over the intercom they seemed very panicked. I want every student who attends BHS to feel safe. The adults control how the students view their safety. In conclusion, my personal experience at Bartlesville High School was good, but there are things the faculty could do in order to improve the high school experience for future students!
Bartlesville High School is a great school. It offers around a dozen AP classes and has decent athletics for a 6A school. A few years ago, a new wing was added where most freshman classes are held, making the middle school to high school transition easier. BHS has some of the best teachers in Oklahoma who are excellent at teaching and encouraging students. The main downside of BHS is that it offers few rigorous academic courses, especially in science and math. By junior year, about 10% of students complete the most advanced math class and then repeat it or drop math and there is no advanced physics class. However, the basic physics teacher, like many teachers in the school, was willing to spend time helping students study advanced physics independently. Overall, BHS is a good school with great teachers but not enough funding.
