Barrington High School is a large high school in the heart of Barrington that offers its students a wide range of academic classes, activities, and clubs to participate in. What I personally enjoy most about Barrington are its unique elective courses. In particular, they offer a variety of of art classes that specialize on art ranging from photography to ceramics to digital art. Another aspect of Barrington that I enjoy is its school spirit and its teachers' true dedication and care for their students. I have had many teachers throughout my high school career and I can say that the majority of them put every effort to help their students, making sure they were set up for success. Overall, being at Barrington these past four years has been a blessing and something I will never forget!
Barrington High School is very well regarded and very well established. There are a couple of flaws within the school, but this mainly comes down to faculty and spending money on the wrong things. No real major problems within the school, just a typical high school. Lots of good college prep , allowing students to be prepared for standardized testing and college courses. The school is very diverse aswell. The sports teams are great but there’s too much focus on certain sports that leads to others being cast into the shadow of spending. Art programs are great and the theater department is also respected. Teachers are either very nice and passionate about their course or too harsh on their students over mistakes. Coursework varies depending on what classes you take, with many students opting for AP classes.
I am very lucky to have been a student at Barrington highschool. It is clear that the district cares about their students. There are two things I can see improvement in. The first is the bathrooms. Every stall has a large crack giving no privacy to the students. The sinks rarely work and often splatter. The other is the fine arts. I simply wish there were to be more funding towards the programs. The auditorium has not been updated in decades. It is difficult to create a production with old sound systems, resizing of costumes and simply a low budget. It is difficult to attend a school that has a lot of funding, but not seeing the arts receive much of it. The teachers at our school are probably the greatest thing about the school. Throughout my four years of teaching I have not had a single teacher that was bad. Of course, I’ve struggled with some of the teaching styles, but overall the teachers at our highschool care for their students and want their students to do well
