The school, in my experience, is great! You can really tell that the teachers truly care for all of their students and constantly make themselves available to help us. That being said the school is not perfect, for example our building is under construction which gets rather annoying during test time, but other than little things, it's a great school!
The time I spent at the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy is the main reason I was able to redefine the statistical expectations of my family. I am the first person in my family to go to college. The teachers at BOMLA were not ordinary teachers, they were more than that. The teachers did not stop at teaching us about math, science, history, math, etc. These teachers taught us life lessons and showed us that it did not matter where we came from or what we looked like, we could be successful if we worked hard and persevered.
The Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy is a great school for young men who want to make an impact in their communities. The school teaches students to be leaders and competitive scholars in a family setting. The classes are challenging, but with caring teachers it is possible to overcome those obstacles. The culture of the school is unlike any other, it is something that has to be seen to be understood. From my experience of going to the school from sixth grade until now, a senior, I have gained wisdom about life as well as become a person who wants to have an impact on the world for the better in my own unique way.
