Having attended Bandera High School for all four years of my high school career was nothing less of an interesting experience. From undercooked lunches, being on lockdown for 3 hours because a student had a gun, our water being shut off and having to use port-a-potties (with no handwashing stations), blood-covered hallways from fights where students lose teeth, a coach sleeping with a student, a choir director showing off his trading cards (that featured nude women) to a student, a student bringing a stun-gun to school and another student stealing it and tasing multiple people, the list goes on! Although my school experience wasn't superb, there were few things at BHS that give you an odd sense of pride, like our annual Homecoming Bonfire, our holiday parades down Main Street with longhorns and horses, our XC girls winning state 4 years in a row, and even our football team going 6-0 for the first time since 1994 our senior year.

Well, while I do appreciate our staff and administration, I've had a few issues regarding to racist and sexist coming from both students and teachers, I spent two years relearning math because I had a teacher that wouldn't show up or would just chat about his personal life every day. On the other end of the spectrum I've had outstanding teachers! am an average A-B student with a basic GPA but that's alright.
I love the opportunities I’m able to get, like attending Girls State, being a part of a cross country team that competes at the state level every year, and lastly being able to become a state champion in girls powerlifting. The community is so supportive and I have seen many improvements as I’ve gone through my four years.
One thing I would like to see change in is the length of our lunch period. Many schools get almost a full hour for lunch while we get 30 minutes and it really isn’t long enough for students to enjoy there lunch, especially those who can go off campus.
