Now I am writing this from personal experience, but I am glad I went to BHS. The education I received was great. Although, my only real complaints are that my first two years of Lab sciences I wasn't quite sure what I was learning; another area for improvement could be hospitality (ie cleaner restrooms). I mostly took GATE/Honors/AP so I couldn't really comment on how the College Prep teachers educate their students. Those were some general continuities I noticed.

Now for some things that changed. Delinquency massively decreased. My freshman year there were constant class time disruptions due to fire alarm pulls: my sophomore year a student got into a fight with a teacher and someone was stabbed in Ludden Hall. Thankfully such headline-making events are rare now and we smoothly transitioned principals.

Such a great community of people! The staff is remarkable, always ready to help their students. The school is very diverse and has many great activities and opportunities for many different types of people. Being a Driller myself, I'm sad to graduate this upcoming year, but seeing others enjoying the school will always remind me that, "Once a Driller, Always a Driller."
Bakersfield High School is a very diverse school with a lot of opportunities for their students. They have dozens of clubs and electives for kids to choose from. I played varsity volleyball all four years of highschool, so I was heavily involved in the athletic department. The coaches and athletic directors truly care about the outcome of their athletes. As for the education, most of the teachers are great educators and have a passion for helping the students. Overall, BHS is an excellent school. However, there are a few things BHS could improve on. The college readiness is only subject to those in higher level classes. I was in some AP classes but mostly College Prep which is the most common level of classes. I do not feel like the the college prep classes truly prepared me for the difficulty of college. That is not the case for the AP classes. I feel like the majority of BHS was not in AP which means that only a small portion of the school is being prepared for education after BHS.
