Incredible school with a high level of education. Individualized curriculum to fit different strengths and abilities of each student. The wide array of artistic extra-curricular activities as well as programs for community volunteering were important. The teachers are capable and intelligent and deeply care for the success of each student.
I had an amazing experience at BY. The teachers were passionate about their subjects, devoted to their students, and facilitated their personal growth in all areas. The programs (productions and exhibit) were great ways to allow girls to shine, express creativity, and work as a team. Overall the school has both wonderful shtark values and an accepting attitude that together makes this beautiful community school strong and thriving.
I feel privileged to have been a student of Bais Yaakov Eva Winer High School for my full four years as a high school student. The school has a strong focus on academics, but it does not detract from the warmth and positivity that the teachers exude. All the teachers care so much about their students, and work incredibly hard to make each student feel successful in her own way. The classes prepare the students for college, and for facing life after High School. There are extra curricular programs which are incredible, and foster a positive school environment. BYHS is the place to be!!
Despite the weaknesses of this school, there are three main aspects that make Bais Yaakov school for girls amazing. First and foremost is the warmth of the school. Every morning when I come to school I feel like it is my second home. Second, they have a great emphasis on effort, even though grades are important and the classes aren't easy. But they show us to try our hardest always. Third, there is a lot of diversity within academics and also the students attending the school. There are many different types of classes offered, and the students are from all different types of backgrounds. The diversity in both of these aspects are very beneficial to all the students. All three of these qualities are very important, which is why our school is the great school that it is.
The teachers and staff were all dedicated to helping us reach our greatest potential. From the moment we entered high school, until graduation day, they invested therir time and energy into us. The school complimented its intense academics with numerous extra curricular activities to ensure that every girl would shine.
The entire school has been outfitted for a lock-down, with ways to lock the classrooms from the inside with new doors and shades for all the windows on the doors. Lock-down drills occur yearly. Bais Yaakov installed this after researching the safest way to protect the school from a school shooting. The school building is always locked with a separate passcode for school hours, and there are metal concrete pillars in front of the entrance to make crashing into school with a truck impossible. There are cameras school-wide, and the display is in the office. Not a single area of the school isn't wheelchair accessible. An entire student school campaign on the power of kind words, the inanity of gossip, and sensitivity is in effect to combat the negligible amount of bullying and just to make students kinder and more thoughtful with how they speak to and about people. The infirmary is fully outfitted with beds, epi pens, medications(under lock), separate attached bathroom, inhalers, general health and personal care items, and whatever else is needed to be stored by students. All classrooms have windows by the door, and an intercom system if there is ever a problem. The hallways are wide and never cluttered for easy access between classes. All personal safety and bullying concerns are addressed immediately, and somehow Bais Yaakov always knows. There's not much to say the students really keep themselves safe before the school says anything.
Drama, choir, dance, orchestra, costume design and production, scenery and props, and tech help, the play can encompass a range of student skills. The production doesn't outsource anything, but somehow the final product is always polished and professional. Every four years (every student gets a chance to participate) an entire museum is erected within the school. Each classroom on a dedicated floor is covered in artistic mastery and ingenuity. A mural made out of fuse beads, a full puppet theater, simulations of historic events, full-scale models, a sculpture made of coiled paper, etc. all tell an educational and cohesive story that is eventually opened to the public and various schools with students as volunteer tour guides. To be a part of it is a once-in-a-lifetime time experience, and artistic or not most of the school participtes. debate team, science club, basketball, IT, student extracurricular, activities heads, fundraising, yearbook, band, and creative writing comprise the steady clubs. However, Bais Yaakov is always willing to start something new and clubs get added as their asked for and cease as demand diminishes. Also, although it is not required 95% of the student body participate in the tens of community service options offered as well.
Bais Yaakov goes out of its way to make sure every student has what she needs in order to truly thrive. No students needs are too difficult to accommodate. Whether the student is deaf, blind, learning disabled, needing financial help, profoundly gifted, absent due to long-term illness, bereaving, physically disabled, highly allergic to common foods, wants to diversify the curriculum, boards, transferred from none-English speaking countries, etc., she is taken care of both by staff and student body. Bais Yaakov truly creates miracles. The school spends a painstaking amount of time and money to make sure each student can shine in at least something within school academic, extracurricular, or other. The camaraderie and friendship students have towards each other is unparellel. Girls in grades of 100 students can honestly affirm that they are friends with every single grademate. At graduation dinner instead of partying most of the grade is crying at the thought of having to leave the Bais Yaakov hallways. Although the girls are not crying becuase of the physical building, the grounds are gorgeos. The building is always clean and floor to ceiling windows reveal a scenic view of Bais Yaakov's soccer fields, baseball fields, and tree-lined nature path. The huge gym, huge lockers, offices for every Department chair and grade counsler, four state-of-the art computer labs equiped with any program that anyone can need, Two fully functional sceince labs, the smartboards and other technology, the comprehensive library, The full theatrical stage, the lecture rooms, the abundance of classrooms, and many other points as well make for a spectacular learning environmet. Diverse electives are offered including but not limited to painting, art history, sign language, Yiddish, guitar, sewing, computer programming, photoshop, html, child devolopment, voice lessons, bookkeeping, creative writing, orchestra, and judaic law. College credits and APs are offered. The education is suberb.
I chose this school again because of the atmosphere ofd the school. The girls are all so friendly and really look out for each other. The school also has many programs for girls who have talents to sing dance or act, letting each girl shine her her best area. They also have many programs to help each girl to become a better person through a very fun and exciting way!
Bais Yaakov is a very well-run school with a challenging academic curriculum. They also include a great balance of extra-curricular activities. The staff at Bais Yaakov is very warm and welcoming and they truly care about each student. I am so happy that I am a student at Bais Yaakov.
Teachers in Bais Yaakov are there because they want to make a difference in their students lives. They are devoted to and truly care about each and every student. Additionally, their lessons are compelling, interesting, and have just the right balance of challenge. They are truly the best!
I really like the my school, they try to accomadate evryone and have teachers who are there to help and are very kind. I feel that I am very privleged to be in the school I am, where the students accept who you are and do not judge people by theway they look.
I really like my school and would totally choose it again i was able.
Aside from the fact that it is a relgious school so everyone practices the same religon, the students are accepting of people that are different
The school is a private school for a certain type of student, but as long as the student fits into that category they are accepting.
Most of the teachers are top rate. They know how to give over their information well and make it engaging. They are well-trained and really know the information they are teaching. They are never just a page ahead. They, for the most part, truly care about their students, not only their academics but as human beings as well. Their grading is always always consistent, there is very little favoring and it is overall a very fair grading system. If we ever have any problems, the school administration is extremely receptive.
The academics at my school are superb. The school offers a variety of subjects, with many different tracks to cater to everyone's needs. The honors tracks are extremely challenging and to do well the workload is immense. But, there is not a pressure among most students to be in a track that one does not belong in, although there is a positive pressure to do well within most tracks. The curriculum is fabulous and they offer as many different courses with compelling agendas as possible. The schedules are amazing, they work tirelessly so that every student has exactly what they need when they need. The workload is alot, but it is only to help us. The school has an incredible and large resource program with many different options for students who are struggling in any number of areas.
