I enjoyed my experience at Azle High School. High school is high school, not everything is perfect. There are wonderful teachers here that make their students their top priority. They are always open for extra one-on-one time, they are very understanding, and they will make sure you have the resources you need. Furthermore, the principal, vice principals, and counselors blatantly care. They not only organize the chaos of scheduling, they help students make decisions about their future and they guide them in their path to get there. I had an amazing experience in my organization. I participated in band and choir, both of which generate passion and commitment for the rest of my schedule.

Azle High School has a very nice small-town feel with a staff and faculty who truly care about your safety and success in the real world. AHS also offers a multitude of AP and Dual-Credit courses, in addition to Dual-Enrollment courses through the UT OnRamps program. This allows students to gain firsthand experience of college courses and rigor, preparing us for the future. Every single one of my teachers genuinely cares not only about their students, but about their passion for teaching. Due to Azle being a small town with a big heart, we are a close knit community. Even in extra-curricular activities there are instances where the football team supports the band at competitions, or where the drill team supports our cheerleaders in the same way. The only negative comment I could make about my school would be a lack of ethnic diversity, but I believe that is hardly preventable because of geographical location and many Middle Class Caucasian families living in the area.
Azle HS was disappointing. Teachers/admin treat students like animals without feelings. Most staff seem bigoted in some way (racist, especially political in the classroom, homophobic, even sexist). Orgs like band and theatre have negative energy; the directors are biased and unempathetic toward members/cast, and the parents involved intentionally cause drama and social tension. It's a hostile environment for any student who isn't white, Christian, and straight. There are physical fights, and verbal harassment goes uninterrupted by teachers. A few teachers have used hatespeech against students for being overweight, gay, and other personal attacks. If I'd known what this school was like, I would have lived in a different district.
Positives: The CIS and counselors are amazing and do great work with students, especially those struggling. The school has extensive equipment for art, band, and athletics that allows students to test and expand their talents.
