Avon Old Farms (AOF) provides outstanding education for boys in a caring community. Every person who works at AOF "gets" boys and wants them to be their best, to try things, to discover new parts of themselves, to achieve academically, and to reach their potential. Boys love AOF and truly experience the brotherhood that is the school's philosophy of the school community. There is always something happening on campus that is fun, including excellent sports. Communication between the school and parents is very strong with mutual trust and regard.
It is a great sports school and a mid-academic school with a beautiful campus. If you apply yourself, you will succeed. Administration is questionable, and several teachers are alums who have no background in their subject. I was also lied to numerous times by an admissions director (won't name), who never came through with any promises he made. Privileged party school with a work hard, play hard mentality. If you like SMU, UMiami, or UTampa, this is your school, not for Ivy League chasers.
As a current student, there is no cell service and the wifi is astonishingly bad. The dorms are very small and they will only show you the nice dorm (Brown) when you tour. They also won't mention that we have classes and mandatory programs where attendance is taken most saturdays. They also make it very hard to leave campus and have a life outside of school via the schoolsuite app system they use. Athletics are great and academically it would be very hard to fail a class with all the opportunities you have with the teachers. Attend Avon if you want to eat chicken for every meal as well.
