Augusta Prep has thoroughly prepared me for college, and I wouldn't choose another school for any reason. Prep is a true community, a family, a sanctuary in which learning is valued, growth is applauded, and success is celebrated. Everyone is safe to be themselves at Prep, and because of its small size, nearly everyone knows something about someone. At Prep, students feel important. They feel like their future matters, like their education is the goal. Though Prep places immense emphasis on the value of learning and the college preparatory process, there is much time devoted to helping students become well-rounded. There are dozens of clubs, from Debate to Chess to Disc Golf, almost every sports team possible, and a thriving arts department that welcomes everyone to try ceramics, 2D, or theater. At Prep you can have everything you want because the opportunities are endless.

Teachers at Augusta Prep are truly unique. Because Prep has such a small population, the student to teacher ratio is small, creating an environment in which students' needs are always adequately addressed. At Prep the students and teachers are not necessarily friends, because there exists a healthy relationship of professionalism and respect, but in many cases the teachers care about the students as if they are their own children. The teachers come to work every day with their focus on students and helping them succeed. Each day is an opportunity for teachers to help students take one more step towards success. Teachers present lessons in a challenging way that demands hard work and critical thinking in order to uphold the standard of excellence at Augusta Prep. Homework is lengthy, tests require sufficient studying, and nothing is given freely. Hard work is expected of the students but teachers in return bend over backwards to ensure success. At Prep I know that if I ever need help with homework, studying, life decisions, or just a responsible adult to talk with, there is always someone available who cares for me. Teachers at Augusta Prep are truly unique, and I wouldn't change a thing.
In terms of safety from natural events, every month we have a school-wide fire drill. About once per semester we do a tornado drill, armed shooter lockdown drill, and a campus evacuation drill. The teachers are well informed and very organized in terms of response for these types of situations. In terms of bullying, Prep has a zero tolerance policy for mistreatment of students. Bullying is very scarce, but when it occurs, prompt action is taken with the faculty and parents to ensure immediate termination of inappropriate behavior. In terms of mental health safety, Prep has a well-qualified psychologist/counselor whose door is always open with a couch to sleep on and a bowl of candy to soothe bad days. She is very open and welcoming to all students, and in an effort to promote anonymity, posts her cell phone number on her door to arrange discreet counseling meetings. After the suicide of a student last year, the counselor in conjunction with all faculty promptly arranged school-wide counseling and support systems and took measures to educate on the effects that suicide can have on friends and family. Prep was very efficient in monitoring the conditions of its students during this terrible time period. In terms of physical health, Prep provides an athletic trainer, a school nurse, and each faculty member has access to a first aid kit. In general, Augusta Prep is very safe. Some students will always be unkind to others, but faculty takes management of student safety and happiness very seriously.
