Atoka Elementary School Reviews

We had a nice teacher last year for third grade. However, she provided very little help with reading. As a result, my child is struggling this year. He has shared with me stories of a fourth grade teacher shaming a student loudly in front of the entire class. He had issues with her, and my oldest did as well. Both of my kids have been bullied at this school. The administration does next to nothing about it. The gifted program is repetitive and only meets once a week. I have often found fliers (invites) in my kids' backpacks to Southern Baptist Churches, and a few Assemblies of God. The Gideons pass out Bibles to fifth graders once a year. The substitute teachers here are ill informed about students' rights as well. My kids are too young to swear an oath to anything. The subs have pushed my youngest to recite the pledge.

Overall, I am happy with the education provided. However, when a school can take a child's hot lunch and dump it in the trash right in front of them because their parent is behind on payments, but yet still bring in over 70k in pto funds for flat screen tv's in the office....I tend to question where their heart and priorities are. Very sad.
