Atlantic High School Reviews
Rating 3.81 out of 5 254 reviews
Before entering Atlantic High school, I attended private school majority of my school years. Entering at Atlantic High School my freshman year was a complete culture shock for me. I didn’t go into the cafeteria for the first week. Over the course of the following weeks, I found myself struggling to find myself. And then the pandemic hit… it made me rethink a lot of things. As the schools years continued, teachers took me under their wing, pushed me, encouraged and helped me identify me strengths. I began to utilize my strengths and I began to flourish. High school was beginning to become what I always dreamed. Without the guidance of some of my teachers, I wouldn’t be the Lillian I am today. There were so many opportunities to get involved and I did. I joined book club, the Nautica dance company and SGA. The leaders and teachers were supportive helped me succeed in every aspect. I am truly proud to be an Atlantic Shark.
Our school is okay but I would not recommend a friend to attend. Often times teachers quit mid-year and those students are left with nothing to learn (or they are fired for horrible things). It's nice to have fresh air in between classes, but the campus is relatively dirty, partially the students fault but there are not enough janitors on staff to do anything that is done. Administration tries to have many events for the students so they are not completely bored which is nice, and we have access to plenty of technology. However the options for classes is limited, and if our interests do not meet that of what is offered, then we are stuck taking classes we have no interest in taking. I have made many friends there and all, but I would like to enjoy going to school for my education, not for socialization. The athletics program is lacking, but we have lots of school spirit and a great band, which in part makes up for it. I do hope my senior year will be enjoyable.
Atlantic has a generally supportive staff and good educational resources. Most people are friendly, but there are some kids who tend to cause issues like fights and arguments with teachers. Overall, it's a good school with some issues, but every school has their problems.
