I really like how the school is open to many diverse cultures. People there are exceptionally nice, and I would recommend that school to any child and parent who wants their child to have the best education available. It is such a welcoming community! There are no groups or cliques that exclude you out of anything because everyone is in various groups. Everybody talks to everybody.

I like all of the opportunities Atherton has to offer. Not only do they have a variety of art programs, we have both AP and IB classes. Recently, Atherton has created “academies” for engineering, media arts, and biomedicine. Atherton could be improved by giving the art programs more attention. with the creation of the academies, the arts, such as band, chorus, and visual art, have been neglected. Art programs are important to education because they work to further develop regions of the brain that math and science classes do not. They also encourage individuality, which is vital for students.
Overall my experience with Atherton has been wonderful. I am a candidate to receive an international baccalaureate diploma, which is the most rigorous course available in the state of Kentucky, opening up my eyes to philosophical implications and educational opportunities not provided by any other path.

Besides a collegiate level education, the culture of Atherton is unique in that we have no real social structures or cliques. Upperclassmen mingle with underclassmen, sports teams fraternize with academic clubs, and no one of "popular". Every student is in this wild, wacky highschool experience, enduring midterms and family struggles and teen angst together.
We laugh, cry and survive everything that is thrown at us. And sure our facilities are dinged up, and our football team has had a 20 year losing streak, but we bond over these factors and become better people because of it.
