Athens is a close-knit community and it reflects in the school setting. Many of the teachers have grown up in Athens and returned to teach in the schools, so there's a level of connection between teachers and families that may not be found in other communities. The teachers all work hard to accommodate any needs a student might have, and they really seem to enjoy their work and make learning more enjoyable for their students. Overall, the school is great in regards to academics, sports, and club options- and, not going to lie, the food is great!
Athens High School has high quality teachers who care about the students and how well they do in school. The teachers know all of the students because of the small student size. I have had the most fun in the Athens High School Band. Mrs. Riske is very experienced and makes it fun for the students to play while also pushing them to be better. Something that could be improved is the higher administration. They often don't know what to do and poorly communicate with the teachers and students.
Overall, a decent school. Like every school, it has its bad teachers, but it also has its fair share of good ones. Athletics have done well recently, and the school offers a large amount of organizations for its size.
