My school has such an amazing group of teachers. They actually care about your education and give you the opportunities to be victorious. Many of my teachers push me to think beyond what I am used to. Pushing me out of my comfort zone while exploring the world around me. I am so incredibly grateful for them, and how they have impacted me positively. Each day I feel like my mind has been opened to new thoughts and ideas. There's never a dull moment. The teachers actually make going to school sufferable. The people their I personally don't get along with. At least the teachers and education is grade A. The only thing I think my school can improve on is diversity. Our minority rate is fairly low, and I'd like to see more diversity in my school.

The best things about extracurriculars in Aspen is the sports. Competitive sport teams are well funded, the athletes are treated well, and almost every student in the school is involved in one. This is also a problem though because that means the arts are ignored and sports that are not competitive, such as dance, are not recognized. For example, our band program consists of roughly eight or nine kids and our school has about 600 people and the theater department's funding is often cut. Sport teams are celebrated during homecoming pep rallies and the athletes are given rewards at the end of each year. The arts are simply not treated the same.

Although sports are very important and good for teen mental and physical health, I wish that the arts were not constantly swept under the rug. A good example of this is when I was in Freshman year the track field was totally redone even though it was in decent condition, but the theater program was cut because of finances and the teacher had to leave and find another job since her work was being cut down to a part-time job only.
Aspen High school has provided me with some of the most dedicated and influential teachers that a student could only dream of. If is wasn't for my teachers Aspen High school would've been a more negative experience. The school might not be as united student wise as I'd like, but the teachers make it feel like a more tied together community.
