It is a very rigorous school. Students who graduate from Archimedean tend to excel in college, and the ratio of students going to top institutions is much higher than standard public high schools. Overall, the environment is quite safe, however the school focus is on STEM, leaving very little room for arts, humanities, and sports. This is certainly a demanding a competitive school built for students who want to succeed. There is a lot of work and the course load is quite heavy, which in turn results in higher test scores and well-prepared and disciplined students.
The food is pretty good. There is a salad bar and everything is very clean. The environment is very safe.
Overall pretty good for academic-oriented students, but not so much for those who want to excel in other areas.

Archimedean Upper Conservatory has a very rigorous curriculum. It is very focused on academics but it loses its school culture. In other schools, there is a lot of school pride but Archimedean is much more work-oriented and they don't tend to focus on school pride. They get you ready for college in many ways and they are very successful in getting all their students into college but the atmosphere is not a family. Students don't truly get the full 'high school experience' like in other schools. There are pros and cons to being such an academically focused school but they lose so much school spirit in doing so which keeps students engaged and proud to represent their school.
Archimedean is definitely not a school for everyone, but this is exactly what makes it special. Archimedean is a school where faculty members truly care about your future, and their tireless work is highly evident of this. Students learn to manage their time and receive excellent college preparation. In regards to the classes, the Archimedean curriculum is definitely different than most, which is exactly what makes it an effective and engaging curriculum. From Euclidean Geometry to Political Philosophy to Logic to Discrete Math to Greek Language the classes offered at Archimedean ensure that students receive a well-rounded education. At times, the workload might seem unbearable, but this is for our own good- we learn to manage our time wisely and to pace ourselves accordingly. As a junior, I wouldn’t be anywhere else.
