COVID-19 Update for Prospective Students and Families:

Our academic mission is more important than ever as students need to be in school for academic, social, spiritual, mental and emotional, physical and nutritional reasons. To do this, the first and most fundamental consideration is the safety and well-being of our students, our Holy Cross educators and our families. Learn More

As a transfer into Hoban high school it was one of the best decisions of my life to date. The education that I am receiving is top notch! On a daily basis I know that I am being prepared fro my life after high school. Not only in the classroom, but life skills and tools I will use for the rest of my life. Not only is the education I am receiving incredible the friendships and people that I hav met is just as good! These people hold me accountable and keep me on my toes. I am grateful for my high school experience, and I would not trade it for anything.

I went to Hoban all four years of high school and thoroughly enjoyed my time there (Class of 2020). Although I am not Catholic, they were almost always accepting of this as long as I didn't make it blatantly obvious. I found it very welcoming after my shadow day, and decided not to even visit anywhere else. Most teachers are very easy to work with, and range from very lenient to firm but fair. I would strongly recommend Hoban over the other Catholic schools in the area as it seemed more comfortable with nonconformity than the others. The football team seems to be coming out of a golden age of being four time back to back state champions, but is still excellent. Although I frequently packed a lunch, the cafeteria food is decent. The theater program has substantially improved recently, but shows are still done in the gym. Recommended teachers include Mr. Tocchi (math, computer science), Mrs. Ball (English), Mr. Yanko (history), and if you're up for a challenge, Mrs. Hahn (Latin).
Most of faculty and teachers are nice and supportive. The overall atmosphere is very positive and the teachers will really push you to do your best, but they’re all willing to work with you if you’re having difficulty. However, one of my friends was having financial issues and the school didn’t offer free lunch options which was a big struggle for her and her brother. Although, the school does have many scholarships to help with tuition. The visual and creative arts department is amazing, but the options for music are much more limited.
