As a student who attends Animo Inglewood CHS I rated the school a 4 out 5 stars because although it is an amazing school with dedicated teachers there is always room for improvement. I have greatly benefited from the programs offered like Minds Matters and College Match and have also learned a lot of valuable lessons from the teachers. The counselors are constantly reaching out to the students with jobs, school, and college opportunities. The teachers show great emotion a passion when teaching each student. Given the community Animo is in, they do a great job to prepare the students for college. I would 100% recommend this school to many people. To answer the part in which I state that there are some improvements they can do are like preparation for things like the stay at home orders and diversity. Other than that I have enjoyed my three years at Animo!
Everything about the school is perfect EXCEPT THE LUNCH FOOD. The food is not the greatest and the most nutritious it can be. It can be assumed that this is due to the lack of funds the school has. With this being said, the school needs to improve its fundraising abilities to resolve this issue. Academic wise, the school provides endless opportunities for students in need of support. They provide one one one assistance, peer assistance, tutor.com for students who feel better receiving assistance online, and flexible office hours. Although we do not have a library, many teachers buy books with their own salaries for students to use personally. This truly shows how much the teachers at Animo care about their students reading improvement. Overall, the school is amazing but does need small improvement in terms of fundraising and nutrition.
My overall experience at Animo Inglewood was reasonably good. There wasn't much for me at this school because I was a black girl at a predominately Hispanic school. There were times when I felt like staff members -- mainly the counselors -- cared more about the Hispanic students than the black minority. Even though I felt this way, I still managed to make myself known to my counselor and teachers so they could value my education as much as I do. I wouldn't recommend black students to attend this school, but if they do attend Animo Inglewood, the advice I would give them is to make sure they make themselves known. Let the staff know that you are at their school to receive the education you deserve. There were many times when I felt like giving up, but I knew that wouldn't help me in the long run. Although I didn't have a great experience at Animo Inglewood, I still managed to succeed and graduate with a 4.0.
