My whole life I knew I was going to attend Andrean. I have had countless cousins that have gone through Andrean and are now Alumnis. Honestly, I anticipated Andrean to be like any other school. The only thing I expected to get from Andrean was a diploma at the end of my four years. However, I quickly learned this school had so much to offer me. I am a senior now, and I am a completely different person than I was 4 years ago. I find myself to be more charitable. Andrean has monthly service projects that allow students to give back to their communities. These opportunities have taught me the power of helping those in need. I am also more organized. Andrean is tough, but gives you resources to be successful! Overall, Andrean is an very good and welcoming school that feels like family.
Andean High School is what you make it. It sounds cliche but you get out what you put in. Freshman year will predict where you are for the next four years. Andrean takes kindly to student athletes. If you play baseball or football or volleyball you are in GREAT hands. BUT if you are like me (more arts inclined) you will find no support at Andrean. The Theatre program has a lot of teacher turnover. There is no choir, speech, or debate program, so if you do not participate in a sport your options are VERY slim. Education wise you will find a mixed bag of teachers. Some teachers are amazing, but in my experience I’ve encountered more terrible or mediocre ones. Lastly, the social environment is very clique based. As much as one hears that Andrean is a family, that statement is not really true. Andrean as a whole is not a family. The group of people who you associate with become your family. It’s a small school so find your people, stick with them, and be an athlete, if not, then good luck
Andrean High School has made view the world differently . Andrean speaks a lot about family and tradition , and I have learned during my time at Andrean. I love being a fighting 59ner. It is diverse which means I am able to learn about so many different cultures , and religions that I would’ve thought that exist. The academics are challenging, it is a college prep school. It has taught ways to be fully prepared for college , in a quick amount of time and I am grateful to have that opportunity that others do not have.
