I loved my time at Andover High School, I loved my classes and all my teachers. There's a great culture at Andover High, everyone wants each other to succeed, and in general just a really friendly community. I am a three sport captain and I can't emphasize it enough, but the athletics programs are elite and so enjoyable. Andover High is a very diverse and inclusive school where everyone finds their path. I'm so thankful that I went through Andover High School!

Andover High has pros and cons, but this school does not suit everyone's needs. Most teachers and students do take academics seriously, and the curriculum is demanding for a public school. I moved to Andover, so this was a more difficult adjustment for me, however I feel prepared for college. Andover is extremely liberal so there is definitely a lot of tolerance for diversity/LGBTQ. Most of the students are white and very wealthy, but there is room for everyone. Food/cafeteria staff are amazing. Some incredible teachers, some horrible teachers. Competitive/political athletics. Focuses heavily on excellence, and those who enjoy something for a reason other than competition can definitely feel left out. Can feel socially isolating and the party culture does not help. There's good and bad, but I left Andover High early because I was unhappy here.
The teachers in particular are incredible. Many of my senior year teachers were very well educated, two graduating from Harvard, and other teachers graduating from Dartmouth and Columbia.

Overall, you really get out what you put in. This applies to everything. There is a fine amount of diversity. The administration is well organized. I would say that the biggest drawback at Andover is that students here can be very tribal, and there is no real unifying set of values that the student body can get behind.

If you really get serious about your education and take advantage of the many opportunities offered at Andover, you can launch from this stepping stone into a very successful future.
