I was in high school before and during the first wave of COVID. I think that they handled it the best that they could given that there weren't really guidelines to go off of. Before COVID, I think that the school has its flaws but so does any institution. This high school is better than a lot of the ones that I've seen and heard stories about!
Overall I have had a pleasant high school experience at Anderson. Especially, since I was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program, I feel I have been given such a well rounded and diverse education that views various topics and perspectives rather than just one. Additionally, I have found Anderson to be a fairly diverse community in which I have been able to be meet an array of new people who come from various backgrounds. Due to this diversity amongst my peers, I feel this has offered more nuanced discussions in the classroom. The range of various clubs and extracurriculars is also something I highly enjoyed about Anderson as, personally, I was able to broaden my artistic capabilities with the range of visual arts programs that Anderson offers. The teachers have also played a significant role in strengthening both my academic and artistic capabilities.
Most people are supportive, and if you come, I would highly recommend the IB Diploma program. Teachers really care in the Diploma program, and I definitely felt had I not taken the Diploma program, I would not have been as prepared for college, and neither would my writing skills have been as good. Extracurcciculars are strong and wide-ranging and I've enjoyed the opportunity to be highly involved; speech and debate, robotics, sciO, orch, NHS. If you come, you'll def find your place here
