Anchorage Christian Schools Reviews
Rating 3.62 out of 5 13 reviews
I attended Anchorage Christian schools my middle school through freshman years and once again my senior year. I have other family members who attended the school and currently attend. In the past the school had a lot of problems with treatment of students, racism, homophobia, and had some public scandals. They were forced to change out leadership and bring in new staff members. It was a good change for the school. I think anchorage Christian schools does well in student body involvement. There are lots of clubs and activities for students to take part in. There is a lot more diversity over the past couple years which I think is a great change for the students. There are many great teachers and families in the school who really want to make a positive change. My only request for this year would be stricter rules on Covid guidelines and to keep the students safer. So far they have no mask mandate no social distancing or any Covid precautions or regulations.
It's a very welcoming environment, especially if you get to know the right people. I haven't been at ACS long, but the experience there was life changing. There are many people there who love to help you further understand something, whether it's Christianity or a simple math equation. I'm proud to call ACS my second home.
There are pros and cons to most things but I would not go back to Anchorage Christian Schools if I had the choice. I had a couple of my greatest teachers at that school who impacted my life for the better, but the school itself made it a difficult season in my own life. A large portion of their leadership put off a "too good for you" front. If you were not a sports star, you weren't really worth a second thought. So in the relational aspect, ACS was not wonderful. Their academics though, I believe, were very beneficial. The majority of their teachers loved what they taught and taught well; making sure we understood what we were discussing.
